«Выхожу один я на дорогу» — гласят слова романса. И хотя дорога кажется короткой, но для гоголевских персонажей в ней есть что-то необъяснимо жуткое. К тому же за ними постоянно следят деревенские дети, люд, ведьма, баба Яга, русалки, Утопленница, колдун и само олицетворение Зла. Но они ни за что не покажут им своего страха. Ведь в конце этого не самого приятного пути их ждет то, что искупает все их страхи и опасения — крик петуха.
Но времени объяснять нет: пока не стемнело, лучше отправиться домой.
Четыре повести Николая Васильевича Гоголя — возможно самые страшные повести, которые нам достались, как объект культурного русского наследия, необычные, ужасные, чарующие, загадочные, но непременно — с моралью, которую легко разглядит внимательный зритель.
